Unlike working and getting paid by the hour at a regular job if you are planning to work online full-time to make money the way you get paid will be much different than your typical norm. You have to start by making sure each page on your website/blog has one specific keyword. This drives traffic to your page. This can simply be done by archiving your posts/pages so your viewers will have a selection among the topics they are interested in reading about.
One post per page...yea despite belief posting one post per page allows your page to get specific keywords which help the overall traffic and search engines to lead visitors to your site.
Payment
After you jump over this hurdle you will then need to become familiar with the term CTR (click through rate) if you have a low click through rate than you will be paid accordingly through a smart pricing system which will combine your traffic and click through rate and your advertisers pay you a rate based on the above criteria.
Example:
If you are running ads on your blog that an advertiser has bid $0.40 per click on and your traffic clicks the ads and doesn't convert well for the advertiser then Google will not pay you t$0.20 per click. They will likely give you $0.01 to $0.05 per click. This means you have been smart priced. This will also mean that you will receive lower payouts on every site you have Adsense on - not just the poorly converting site. You recieve this low payment because you are not optimizing your site to benefit the advertisers for a maximum potential. Your goal is to build traffic on your site before you place google adsense on your page. This will give you a jump start to earning money based on a larger traffic base.
When will I get paid?
In the AdSense program, you'll be paid when your earnings reach the payment threshold, as long as there are no holds on your account, and you're in compliance with our policies.
However, we don't send you a check or bank transfer at the exact moment the zeroes roll over. First, we have to validate your earnings for accuracy -- a process that takes place the first week of every month on the previous month's earnings. Then, we send payments a couple weeks later, usually during the last week of the month.
So if your earnings reach the payment threshold in February, we'll send you a payment before the end of March.
If your account balance hasn't reached the payment threshold at the end of the month, we'll roll your earnings over to the following month, until the payment threshold is reached. Balances include your total combined earnings for all AdSense products.
